We had one heck of a close race to the finish.  Several of you were just a few votes and referrals away from reaching the top prize.  We never expected this contest to be so close.

The MarketingDoOver Contest Is For Everyone

An email arrived this morning from a woman explaining that her business is doing well, but would love to take it to the next level.  She also said that she wasn’t sure if this was a contest for people who are struggling in business or if its open to anyone, even people who are already successful, but want to do more.

Allow me to clear this up…

The MarketingDoOver video contest is open to everyone who markets any product or service on the internet.  The contest is even open to people who spend a lot of time marketing themselves, like Realtors for example.  By entering the MarketingDoOver contest, you’re not saying “Help!  My business is failing and I need help!”  You could be earning anywhere from $0.00 to millions of dollars online.

Well, we’re going to be downright brutally honest with you here.  There have been a few submissions which are nothing but video advertisements for the contestant’s website.  Although some of the videos are impressive, those people will not get the big votes from voters and fellow contestants.

Remember, this is not a video contest for the best commercial.  This is a contest where you need to really sell us, the voters, and other contestants on why YOU should be selected to win one of the three grand prizes.

You can be as creative as you want with your video, but you really need to make sure it answers the question, “Why should I be chosen as one of the MarketingDoOver grand prize winners?”

If you are a current contestant and you simply uploaded a video advertising your website, you may want to reconsider your entry.  (Just a friendly tip.)

Here’s some ideas…

- What would a complete marketing makeover with several marketers who have all done millions of dollars in business online do for you?

- How would winning change your life?

- How would winning change your family’s life?

- What are you passionate about?  For example, do you donate your money or time to any special causes How would winning help you?

We’ve received a couple of emails from people asking us if they can submit a written entry because they are not comfortable in front of the camera.

Although we’d love to receive submissions by any means: written on a napkin, written in the sky, written on the sand on a beach, we do have to stick to the rules for an online video contest.  Yeah, the keyword there is video.

We know that recording a video of yourself isn’t easy, especially if you’ve never done anything like this before.  However, stepping out of your comfort zone here will make it easier to market your website using videos in the future.

If you’re not using video to market your websites - you’re making a lot of your competitors very happy!  So take the leap, record your video, and enter the MarketingDoOver contest.  The two minutes you invest in recording your video could end up being the best investment of time you’ve ever made.
